BMW announced its latest SUV will have a bigger interior but a smaller engine.
The vehicle, which is still in the prototyping phase, is called the S-Series SUV and it will have the same engine as the S5 SUV.
It’s a bit of a departure from the S6, which had a 4.0-liter V6 and the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which makes the S7 a bit more conventional.
We know it has a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V6, but the S9 will use a 7.0 liter V6 with a six-speed manual transmission.
The engine size is a bit different, with the S8 and S10 coming with a 4-cylinder V8, while the S11 and S12 will get a 5-cyl, 8-cyl.
It will also have a turbocharged six-cylinders, which BMW says will make it a bit stronger.
The S7 is already outfitted with a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylindered inline-six, but there’s no word yet on whether the S10 and S11 will get the same turbocharged engine.
The S7 and S7 SUV are being offered in two trim levels.
The base version will be priced between $22,400 and $28,400, while an optional upgrade package with the V8 will go for $35,400.
That option will include an upgraded stereo system with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and a leather upholstery, as well as a rear-facing sunroof with LED daytime running lights.
Inside, the S1 sedan is equipped with an all-new 17-inch (406mm) TFT touchscreen display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution and a 3,000-dot TFT display.
It’ll come with a 5,400-mAh battery, while a 9-speaker sound system will be available in the S3, S4, and S5.
There are also new options for the S4 and S6 models: an 11-speakers sound system, a 10-speedset sound system with a 12-speeter, and a 15-speetset soundsystem with a 16-speeters.
S7 and SE sedan pricing will be announced on February 16th.
