The Idaho Transportation Department has updated its definition of active transport to include public transportation.
The department has defined active transport as using a vehicle or other means of transportation to provide the essential services of transportation, including, but not limited to, lodging, transportation of goods, and transportation of persons, for a distance of at least 1 mile.
The definition was updated from the existing one that requires a motor vehicle to be on a designated route.
The department did not make the change in the definition, which was first implemented in 2015.
This definition has not been implemented in the previous two years.
The Idaho Transportation department did make the changes to its definition, but it did not update the definition until 2018.
The updated definition has been adopted as part of a larger transportation overhaul, which included the reclassification of motor vehicles to vehicles.
In 2017, the department expanded the definition of “motor vehicle” to include all other types of motor vehicle.
