By using a drone to fly over the sea, researchers have developed a way to move cargo between ports on a large scale.
The team has developed a drone that can take off vertically and fly to another point on the ocean floor and then return to the same location.
The drone can also take off horizontally and fly vertically to another port.
The work was published in the journal Nature Communications.
This project was started in the United Kingdom and will be completed in the year 2020, said lead author of the study, Dr. James Hunt.
“This project is about bringing cargo to the market at a speed that’s not possible by traditional methods.
By using drones, you can do that,” he said.
The researchers will continue to study this concept and expand upon it.
“There’s some really exciting ideas for other applications,” he added.
