A series of transit routes are being shut down for the weekend in the capital city after officials determined that the weather is too dangerous for the buses to operate.
On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police Department reported that the buses have been operating under a partial closure and are still open, although only the Orange Line will be operating at peak hours on Memorial Day Weekend.
Metro’s Public Safety Division said that they were concerned the weather was too dangerous to operate the buses, and the agency was asking for patience while they made decisions on how to respond.
In a statement to WTOP, Metro said that it will make decisions on the closure once the weather clears.
Metro officials said they are waiting to make a decision on how best to respond to the weather before making any decisions.
Metro spokeswoman Emily Karp said the agency has been communicating with Metrobus and Metro officials.
Karp told WTOP that Metrobus will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., with service ending at 10 p.t. on Memorial day.
